A QUANTITATIVE METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE CONTENT OF NEODYMIUM IN SOLUTIONS USING UV-VISIBLE SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

Abstract

A series of samples of aqueous solutions with different NdCl3 content in the range from 10 g/l to 50 g/l was created. It was found that the area under the peak at a wavelength of 576 nm is proportional to the concentration of NdCl3 in solution. A calibration curve was constructed to determine the concentration of NdCl3 in unknown samples. The method will be useful for analyzing the content of neodymium in scintillators used in experiments to detect double beta decay of neodymium-150.
