LOW-BACKGROUND SCINTILLATION GAMMA-RAY SPECTROMETER BASED ON ALKALINE HALIDE CRYSTALS NaI(Tl)
Abstract
The article describes the development and creation of a scintillation gamma-ray spectrometer based on a single crystal NaI(Tl), with a diameter and height of 200×200 mm, with an extremely low intrinsic radioactive background, including the manufacture of a batch of such spectrometers. In this work, their spectrometric and background characteristics are studied, including in low-background conditions of the underground laboratory of the Baksan Neutrino Observatory located in the CBD.
All components of gamma-ray spectrometers were selected from the point of view of the content of radioactive impurities, for which a low-background semiconductor detector was used.
