THE TiO2/Au NANOSYSTEM IMMOBILIZED IN CHITOSAN MATRIX AND ITS PHOTOCATALITIC PROPERTIES

Abstract

The influence of HCl and H2O concentration on the size of titanium dioxide particles formed in isopropyl alcohol medium from tetraisopropoxide using sol-gel technology was investigated. It was found that the dependence has an extreme character. The doping of TiO2 particles ~ 50 nm in size by gold nanoparticles obtained by UV reduction of HAuCl4 in solutions of the polymer stabilizer – chitosan was performed. The developed TiO2/Auchitosan systems have high photocatalytic activity in a wide range of wavelengths, which is confirmed by the decomposition of methylene orange by 80–90 % in aqueous solution.
