Abstract

This study evaluates the entropy change of polyethylene under strong dynamic compression. It is shown that the entropy jump at the shock front during shock-wave compression is proportional to the relative density change raised to a power of at least three. Using the molecular dynamics method and the LAMMPS software package, the temperature dependence of the Gruneisen parameter for polyethylene was obtained. The resulting dependence indicates that the value of this parameter increases from 3.8 to 4.32 over the temperature range of 0–90 °C.

Abstract

It has been shown that the percolation threshold, anisotropy level, and degree of dispersion of carbon nanotubes are not independent characteristics. Such indicators are the structure of aggregates and the content of nanofiller. The value of the fractal dimension of the structure allows us to predict the properties of polymer nanocomposites.

Abstract

The paper studies the deformation conditions of flat microcrystals of silver bromide and their effect on the structural and optical properties of the material. It was found, that the deformation of MCs can significantly alter the intensity of infrared luminescence and the parameters of the crystal lattice, which is critical for the functional characteristics of devices.

Abstract

The total energies, electron distributions, and quantum corrections to Ar and Kr atoms are investigated within the framework of density functional theory using the multiparameter variational principle.

Abstract

The problem of modeling simple nano-objects using empirical potentials is considered. A model is presented for calculating stable nanoclusters, equilibrium distances, and the number of atoms in the simplest components of nano-objects.

Abstract

A significant influence of structural factors on gas transfer processes for polymer nanocomposites is demonstrated. The main factor reducing the gas permeability of the nanocomposite relative to the matrix polymer is the effects at the polymer matrix – nanofiller interface.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of the development and experimental implementation of a method for determining the variations in the altitude distribution of the muon component of secondary cosmic rays using a CubeSat 3U stratospheric satellite equipped with a plastic scintillator detector. The distribution of the intensity of the muon component of SCR in the altitude range up to 23.4 km has been obtained. The main maximum of the counting rate, which was 1270 imp/min, was recorded at an altitude of 17 km. The second local variation of the counting rate (820 imp/min) was detected at an altitude of 13.7 km. The recorded variations in intensity are interpreted as a result of the local generation of wide-area atmospheric showers.

Abstract

The dependence of the heat transfer coefficient in a needle-to-plane electrode system has been established. The relationship between the heat transfer coefficient and the applied interelectrode voltage was analyzed for different orientations relative to the body force vector. To achieve the maximum increase in the heat transfer coefficient of a flat heater, it is necessary to ensure a specific relationship between the transverse dimension of the cooled surface and the interelectrode distance.

Abstract

The solubility in the Na2WO4–Nа2СО3–Н2О system at 30 °C has been studied. It is shown that chemical compounds and solid solutions are not formed in the system, but with increasing content of sodium tungstate in saturated sodium carbonate solution dehydration of sodium carbonate decahydrate with transformation into b-Nа2СО3´7Н2О occurs. The density, dynamic viscosity and specific electrical conductivity of saturated solutions of the system have been determined, and the isotherms, molar volume, kinematic viscosity, ionic strength, equivalent and reduced electrical conductivity, and apparent molar volume of the sum of salts in the solutions have been calculated. A well-defined correlation in the changes of these properties and solubility in the system is noted.

Abstract

The synthesis and properties of polycarbonate and copolycarbonates of trypticenediol-2,5 are considered. The mechanical properties of mixtures of industrial polycarbonate and polycarbonate of trypticenediol-2,5 are investigated. It is established that polycarbonate and copolycarbonates of trypticenediol-2,5 have higher glass transition temperatures and improved chemical resistance compared to polycarbonate of 2,2-di-(4-oxyphenyl)-propane. It has also been shown that the presence of trypticene units improves the mechanical properties of the mixtures compared to industrial polycarbonate

Abstract

The paper presents dissertation research results aimed at the development of smoke-suppressing additives for plasticized polyvinyl chloride based on inorganic molybdates. The influence of molybdate cation nature and surface modification on thermal degradation, smoke formation, and mechanical properties of PVC plasticates is studied. Modified calcium and magnesium molybdates were shown to reduce smoke density by up to 55 % and increase the onset decomposition temperature by 30-35 °C. The obtained results demonstrate the prospects of molybdate additives for low-smoke PVC materials.
